Reviews
My husband and I took a 3 week vacation all over Italy and Iceland. We stayed at many great hotels, however, this was by far the greatest experience. The staff is genuinely compassionate, friendly and they all give you the feeling that they want you to have an amazing experience. I hurt my leg and requested to switch rooms for one with a tub. They quickly accommodated this request with no problem. I also got very sick the last 3 days of my trip and they took the time to find me a travel doctor that cost only 30 Euros and I got the medicine that I needed. Our last day, we needed a cab for 230AM. They reserved this for us and even went as far as packing us both a breakfast bag! 🥹. This staff is special. I have nothing but great things to say about all of them. Thank you for a magical stay and will be back for sure !!!
The real underlying question is "would I stay here again?": the answer is NO.
So many false promises within the booking website and here are some points for you to make your own judgement:
Advantages:
- Housekeeping was great, our room keeper Alba was really helpful and fantastic at her job.
- Location was great with several restaurants and mini supermarkets nearby. Travelling into town was so easy, whether it was by foot or taxi.
- Great coffee.
- Free WiFi.
- Free small bottles of shower gel.
- Great view off of the terrace.
- Sound proof doors.
- Air conditioned rooms.
- Very comfy bed (no surprises found either).
Disadvantages (hope you're ready for this..):
- The BIGGEST let down for booking the suite was that the jacuzzi doesn't work. After bringing this to receptions attention, they mislead us by advising that maintenance would be turning up the following day (and they didn't of course).
- The hotel itself is cosmetically understandard/outdated and definitely not worth 4 stars or the 185.00 euro per night that we paid.
- Robes were advertised but NOT supplied.
- Towel rails hanging off the wall along with the toilet roll holder.
- Leaking roof/ceiling which is evident in the pictures.
- A leaking shower every time you use it (see pictures).
- A toilet which is about to fall off of the wall.
- The free breakfast was horrible apart from the coffee, no range for vegetarians apart from the black scrambled eggs.
- Most staff make you feel unwelcome with their whole aura.
- No snacks or varieties of drinks within the minibar (apart from a small still/fizzy bottle of water).
- Numerous lights within the room didn't work and no bulbs were replaced.
- Paint flaking off the walls/ceilings.
- Stains evident on the sofa.
- No milk available with the complementary tea/coffee.
- No USB charing points or easily accessible sockets that properly work.
- No irons provided (if you want anything pressed, it comes with an additional cost @ reception per item).
- Broken bathroom door handle.
- No welcome pack or room service menu (just a key!).
Dont belive the official photos from hotel. Keep in mind this supposed to be 4-star hotel!
Pros: very nice people working here and nice breakfast
Cons: old dirty hotel with mold everywhere. Stinky bathrooms and everything falling apart.
Rooms don't match pictures of this hotel at all, poor upkeep and understaffed at breakfast. We also had poor experience with housekeeping staff knocking early (twice!) while we were sleeping.
I love the view from the balcony and the old traditional style rooms. It’s a 2-minute walk to the Clodio bus station. The staff were very friendly and informative, and spoke English well. Breakfast was delicious.
The downsides were that the bed was quite firm, the bathroom was quite small and the door to the room was a bit of a hassle to open.
Make sure you bring a power adaptor suited to Italy otherwise you could find your appliances out of battery, and getting around could be much more difficult!
Very nice hotel, very near to the Italian television network. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, and spacious enough. The dinner was also very good and the staff extremely friendly and kind. Good breakfast with homemade croissants and biscuits.
Hotel is outdated but worse than this, it is dirty! There were hairs in the bathroom, bathtup was full of mold and water was muddy, so we even couldn't take a shower... also hotel staff barely speak English.
Very nice room, it has a beautiful rooftop terrace. The staff is friendly too. The only reason i give it a 4 star instead of 5 is because our room was next to the staircase, elevator and to the linen closet making it very noisy for the ones who like to sleep in in the mornings. Which brings me to another point in favour- breakfast starts at 7 till 11 (so you can still catch a bite if your not an early riser). I did not take pictures of the room, but i can assure you it looks just like on the hotels official site. The position is relatively good, 20 min walking distance to vatican or 15 to the ottaviano metro station.
